I have lived in North Somerset for 42 years, the last 16 in Portishead West.
I was a North Somerset Councillor for Backwell for 8 years before moving to Portishead and representing West Ward for 12 years. In that time I helped many residents with a variety of issues, particularly Planning and Highway matters. I was also a member of the Council Executive with particular responsibility for Tourism, Libraries and Community Safety. I was also Chairman of Licensing and attended the various Pubwatch meetings of the local licensees.
I have been politically active since my late teens when I was a YC, Young Conservative, and campaigned for our then Member of Parliament, Sir Paul Dean. When Dr Liam Fox succeeded him I was a member of his Election Team and have had many different roles within the local Party for the last 47 years.
In addition to my political life I was employed as a Senior Nursery Officer for Avon Social Services, specifically in Child Protection for the under fives.
