Councillor for Gordano Valley
I have lived in North Somerset for the last 37 years.
I was first elected to the Council in 1991. Having served on various committees, I was elected leader of the council from 2007 to 2019. I have also served as Chairman of Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Board, as a Director of the old Primary Care Trust and on the Local Enterprise Partnership. I am currently on the Improvement and Innovation Board of the local government association in London. I felt that serving on different bodies was helpful to understanding the importance of partnership working.
In my personal time, I am an avid reader, a member of Mensa, a member of the Bank of England panel and recently completed a Cyber security course with Oxford University.
